The front panel of the jacket is a superb color painting of the dashing Robert Donat holding a sword in his role as Edmond Dantes which wraps around to the spine and shows Elissa Landi gazing at him. One of the most attractive photoplay editions. Published: Meyer and Company, Printed by Thomas Y. Crowell, who reprinted it in Frontis with tissue present in both volumes.
First printing of this edition, revised and translated, with biographical sketch, by Adolphe Cohn. Scarce edition. Volume II: brief pencil on a rear endpaper. Moderate rubbing to both, light stains to front boards. Very Good overall, good candidate for rebind, still a quaint set.
